Trinamool President to raise voice for seats in the Lok Sabha, Assam

Trinamool Congress has been eyeing four Lok Sabha seats in Assam. On Tuesday, Trinamool Congress Assam President Ripun Bora said that are going to demand the seats from the INDIA bloc. According to the sources, the party will be demanding seats for Dhubri, Lakhimpur, Kokrajhar and Karimganj Lok Sabha seats. The AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal is an MP in Dhubri while Lakhimpur and Karimganj Lok Sabha seats were won by the BJP in the last general election. However, a senior Congress leader said that they are unwilling to give four seats to the Trinamool Congress in the state.

Assam woman burnt alive over witchcraft practice

A 30-years-old woman from Assam’s Sonitpur district was brutally attacked and then burnt to death by her neighbors over witchcraft practicing on Monday. According to the sources, the victim is identified as Sangita Kati who was burnt alive by the victims. To police statement seven of them are connected to the incident of which four are arrested. To reports, due to longstanding dispute between the neighbors over various issues, the victim got engaged in witchcraft. Further, search operation is underway to locate and arrest the accused one.

Assam Government has approved Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) guidelines to construct houses for the rural area people under the Mukhymantri Awas Yojana scheme. At Dibrugarh Airport, Assam Forest Department seized around 500 ‘Channa Barca’ fish which is unique and endangered worth Rs. 4.5 crore which was smuggled to Kolkata. The Forest Department cited that, Channa Barca" are protected under Schedule 2 of the Wildlife Protection Act.
