Jammu Kasmir electoral rolls to be prepared by August 31

In Jammu and Kashmir, the Election Commission has started revising the electoral roll in the union territory to be prepared by August 31, sources said on Wednesday. Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar and Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey conducted a review and directed the Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir to prepare maps of the redrawn assembly constituencies. The electoral roll needs to be revised before the first assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Mann condemns attack in Kabul

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has condemned the attack on a Gurdwara in Kabul and urged the Center to provide immediate assistance to ensure the safety of minorities in the Afghan capital. Mann twitted, “Strongly condemn the attack at Gurudwara Karte Parwan in Kabul. Have heard reports of shots being fired at devotees, I’m praying for everyone’s safety. Delhi court cancels Satyendra Jain’s bail

A Delhi court has rejected the bail plea of Delhi minister Satyendra Jain, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case. Special judge Gitanjali Goel rejected Jain's relief, saying the forum was not fit to grant him bail. After hearing the arguments of Jain and ED, the court reserved the order. Jain was arrested by the ED in a money laundering case. He was taken into custody under the criminal provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Journalist held for harassing woman colleague

A journalist was arrested on Friday on the complaint of his female colleague that he instigated her to make a fake obscene video linked to a woman minister of the state. In her complaint filed with the Kochi city police commissioner on May 27, the woman alleged that journalist TP Nandakumar – also known as 'Crime Nandakumar' – threatened and harassed her using vulgar language when she refused to comply, police said. He was arrested six months ago by the Kochi Cybercrime Police for allegedly making derogatory remarks against a woman minister.

Gold climbs by Rs 416

Gold prices rose by Rs 416 to Rs 50,802 per 10 grams in the national capital on Friday, according to HDFC Securities. Silver prices also hike from Rs 60,329 to Rs 1,014 to Rs 61,343 per kg in the previous trade. Senior analyst (commodities) at HDFC Securities, Tapan Pate said, "Spot gold rose by Rs 416 for 24-carat gold in Delhi reflecting the overnight rally in COMEX gold prices,".

Shutdown in parts of Srinagar

A strike was observed in parts of Srinagar on Friday over controversial comments made by two ousted BJP leaders against the Prophet Muhammad. Most shops and businesses were closed in the old city area, known as the heart of Srinagar, and the city center of Lal Chowk. Security forces have been deployed in sensitive areas of the city and elsewhere in the valley to maintain law and order. Protests were held in several parts of Srinagar last Friday against comments made by now-suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and the party's former Delhi unit media chief Naveen Jindal Nabi Mohammad.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has warned 27 hospitals that have committed the Ayushman Bharat Yojana scam. In a meeting to review the health scheme on Thursday, the Chief Minister said any scam in the Ayushman Bharat Yojana will not be tolerated and those involved in irregularities should be sent to jail. “I will not allow any scam in the scheme.
