President Kovind arrives in Lucknow

President Ram Nath Kovind arrived in Lucknow with his wife on Sunday evening as part of his visit to Uttar Pradesh. He was welcomed by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. Kovind garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Raj Bhavan square. He also wished Adityanath on his birthday.

Bengal logs 59 new COVID-19 cases

West Bengal's COVID-19 tally hiked to 20,19,633 on Sunday as 59 more people tested positive for the infection. The state's coronavirus death toll has risen to 21,205. Thirty-one covid cases and zero fatalities were reported on Saturday. The state now has 398 active cases, of which 25 are being treated in hospitals, while 19,98,030 people have recovered from the disease, including 36 in the last 24 hours.

Karnataka HC stays actress Chythra Hallikeri’s case

The actress filed a complaint against her husband, father-in-law and bank manager for allegedly forging her signature and using her bank account without her knowledge. Senior advocate MS Shyam Sundar, who appeared for Pothraj and his father, said that Chitra was the businessman's estranged wife and filed a false complaint. The court was told that the false complaint was filed after Balaji Pothraj filed a divorce case against his wife. Hizb commander killed in encounter

A self-styled Hizbul Mujahideen commander was killed and three soldiers and a civilian were injured in an overnight encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, police said on Saturday. Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar tweeted, “Terrorist Commander of proscribed #terror outfit HM Nisar Khanday killed. #Incriminating materials, #arms & ammunition including 01 AK 47 rifle recovered. #Operation in progress,”. He said three soldiers and a civilian were injured in the initial exchange of fire with the militants.

Elephant tramples man to death in Assam

A 22-year-old man was killed by a wild elephant in Assam's Nagaon district. It is come to know that the died man's name is Vijay Kanwar. He is a resident of Amsoi under the Raha police station in the district. He had gone to the nearby forest to graze his cattle and then he was attacked by a wild elephant. Locals recovered his body and admitted him to a nearby hospital. The forest department has continued patrolling in the area.

Active COVID-19 cases in country rise to 21,177

India recorded over 4,000 new coronavirus infections in a single day, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday. After 84 days, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 4,31,68,585, while active cases rose to 21,177. According to the report, a total of 4,041 new cases were recorded in the span of 24 hours and the death toll reached 5,24,651 with 10 new deaths. Active cases comprised 0.05 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was 98.74 percent. An increase of 1,668 cases of active COVID-19 was recorded.

Man stabbed to death in Juhu

A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death during a clash in Mumbai's Juhu area. The incident took place at Ambe Mata Chal in Nehrunagar on Wednesday night and reports have identified the accused as Suraj Kanojia. “Accused Shekhar Nair (55) was arguing with Kanojia and her mother-in-law, when he pulled out a knife and attacked both of them.
