Modi to participate in Yoga Day celebrations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the International Yoga Day celebrations in Mysuru on June 21 as part of India's platinum jubilee of independence, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Monday. He also said that Modi held a video conference on the matter to discuss preparations for the event with him. During the video conference, Principal Secretary, State Chief Secretary P Ravikumar, Additional Chief Secretary Bandita Sharma to Chief Minister N Manjunath Prasad and others were also present.

Gold gains Rs 75; silver rises to Rs 120

Gold rose by Rs 75 to Rs 51,052 per 10 grams in the national capital on Monday, according to HDFC Securities, on firm global trends. In earlier trade, the precious metal settled at Rs 50,977 per 10 grams. Silver also increased by Rs 120 to RS 62,143 per kg from Rs 62,023 in the previous trade.

Naidu administers oath to 2 new Rajya Sabha members

Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday administered the oath to newly elected members Ravichandra Bhaddirajhu and Aneel Prasad Hegde. Vaddiraju was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Telangana to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Banda Prakash. Hegde was elected from Bihar to fill the vacancy after the death of Mahendra Prasad. Ravichandra Bhaddi Raju took oath in Telugu, while Hegde took oath in Hindi. While Naidu's visit will be the first by an Indian Vice President to all three countries, it marks the first high-level visit from India to Gabon and Senegal.

RPF constable found dead in railway yard

The dead body of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable was found in the yard of Rani Kamalapati station. Reports initially suggest that Constable Amal Chatterjee (50) was killed by the train. A man from Railway Point found the body on Monday morning. Chatterjee is a resident of Kolkata and was posted here since 2018. After post-mortem, his body was handed over to his relatives.

NSA jailed SP leader Rizwan Zaheer

As per the report of Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Saxena, action has been taken er under the NSA to maintain public peace and order against "mafia" leader Rizwan Zahe. on Saturday night the order was issued and a copy was given to Zaheer in jail, he said. The NSA allows a person to be detained for up to a year without charge. Senior Congress leader in Karnataka resigns

Veteran Congress leader HN Chandrasekhar, popularly known as Chief Minister Chandru, quit the party's Karnataka unit citing personal reasons. In his resignation letter to Congress state president DK Sivakumar on Saturday, Chandru said he had joined the "Congress with a vast historical background" to serve the people. “I am satisfied that I have fulfilled my duty sincerely. I am resigning from primary membership. I express my gratitude to everyone in the team who supported and loved me,” he said. JNU student held for molesting fellow student

Delhi Police has registered a case against a JNU student for allegedly molesting a colleague. The case was filed on Saturday based on the complaint of a third year student of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The accused is also a worker of the All India Students' Association (AISA), police said. On Saturday, AISA said the complaint has been forwarded to its Gender Sensitization Committee against Sexual Harassment for investigation and the worker in question has been asked not to participate in organizational activities.
