Senior Congress leader in Karnataka resigns

Veteran Congress leader HN Chandrasekhar, popularly known as Chief Minister Chandru, quit the party's Karnataka unit citing personal reasons. In his resignation letter to Congress state president DK Sivakumar on Saturday, Chandru said he had joined the "Congress with a vast historical background" to serve the people. “I am satisfied that I have fulfilled my duty sincerely. I am resigning from primary membership. I express my gratitude to everyone in the team who supported and loved me,” he said. Congress sources said that Chandru was aspirant for Rajya Sabha ticket and decided to give way after being denied.

JNU student held for molesting fellow student

Delhi Police has registered a case against a JNU student for allegedly molesting a colleague. The case was filed on Saturday based on the complaint of a third year student of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The accused is also a worker of the All India Students' Association (AISA), police said. On Saturday, AISA said the complaint has been forwarded to its Gender Sensitization Committee against Sexual Harassment for investigation and the worker in question has been asked not to participate in organizational activities.

India reported 2,710 new coronavirus infections in a day, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to 4,31,47,530, while active cases reached 15,814, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.
