The hanging body of a 9th class student was recovered from Jalpaiguri

A 9th grader was found hanging from a noose in the Pilkhana Colony area under Ward No. 09 of the Jalpaiguri Municipality. The deceased has been identified as Priyanka Das, a student at the Jalpaiguri Sonali Girls High School. According to local sources, the deceased’s mother found Priyanka's body when she returned home in the evening. Following which, the incident was reported to the police. The police reached the spot shortly after and recovered the body. The Police handed over the body to the family members on Tuesday after an autopsy was carried out. Sensation prevailed after a wild elephant damaged some houses as well as destroyed crops in the Manjoyjote area under the Kharibari block. According to the information received, a wild elephant entered the aforementioned area yesterday and damaged some houses. Crops were also destroyed in the incident. The wild animal then returned to the woods.

The Chopra police arrested two men along with firearms. The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammad Jabir Alam and Dabir Alam. Reportedly, the police at first arrested Mohammad Jabir Alam along with firearms. Following which, he was taken into police custody. Upon learning regarding Dabir Alam’s whereabouts, the police launched operations at the Chopra Jharagachh area and got hold of him. One round of ammunition and a firearm was recovered from his possession.
