AEGCL holds new appointment meeting

The Government of Assam has issued a notification regarding reshuffle of senior officers in Assam, it includes transfer and re-appointment for Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Limited (AEGCL). As per reports, AEGCL has appointed new Chairman from the notification issued by the Assam Government. The reshuffle was done between Senior Officers IAS and ACS. IAS officer Maninder Singh, who was the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam in the Sports and Youth Welfare, Cooperation, and Tourism Departments, has been appointed as the Chairman of Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Limited (AEGCL). Additionally, the initiative was taken due to public interest.

Assam DGP initiate investigation over a video of youths

A video was surfaced over the internet where 300 youths were trained to handle arms organized a camp by Rashtriya Bajrang Dal in Assam‘s Mangaldai town. According to the video, the youths were trained to handle guns and other weapons at the four-day camp in the Maharishi Vidya Mandir School in Mangaldai, started from July 27, 2023. The arms camp was organized without Assam Police permission and Assam Govermemnt. Assam DGP G.P. Singh through a tweet said, “Instructed to register a case under appropriate sections of law & investigate the matter and take lawful action”.

Assam Tea Garden students into new opportunity for educational ground

An opportunity was made possible through the 'Arohan' programme, initiated by District Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav to identify talented students from rural and underprivileged backgrounds. According to the sources, Bhagyadeep Rajgarh, a 16-year-old student from Bokota Nemuguri Deuriting Tea Garden in Assam, was chosen to be the Sivasagar District Commissioner for a day.  The initiative was taken to motivate students from remote and disadvantaged communities to pursue their dreams and achieve academic excellence. The class 10 student later thanked Assam Government for such opportunity.

Assam Police to impliment new rules for ‘Love Jihad’ crimes

On Friday, during an event with Assam Police across the state along with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was organized in Bongaigaon where CM asked Assam Police to formulate rules for investigation against ‘Love Jihad’ in the state, Assam. “Love jihad” is a Hindutva idea that Muslim men lure Hindu women into romantic relationships in order to convert them to Islam through marriage. The Union home ministry has told parliament that “love Jihad” is not defined under Indian laws. A report of crime against women in the state, Assam was updated recently since the leadership of Himanta Biswa Sarma came into process. According to the updated report, about 51% crime against women declined about 29,046 cases in 2021 to a considerably lower number of 14,030 cases in 2022. 8.76 lakh farmers in Assam benefitted

Administered by the Central Government, the PM-Kisan initiative provides eligible farmers with an annual sum of Rs 6,000, disbursed in three equal installments through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode. According to the reports, 8.76 lakh farmers from Assam have received their 14th installment under the PM KISAN scheme. The PM KISAN scheme is to financially support Assam farmers. Minister Bora said that out of the 9.87 lakh farmers registered under PM-Kisan in Assam, 8.76 lakh have already received their installments. The remaining farmers will soon receive their rightful benefits once any technical issues are resolved.
