July 1 deadline for rice millers; Blender machine installation

Assam government had announced about rice to be procured by the government agencies from July 1 have to be mandatorily blended with fortified rice kernels. As per reports, Assam Government have provided subsidy of Rs. 2 lakh to buy blender machine required for the purpose of blending of general rice grains with FRK. Assam CM aims to uplift AFSPA in Assam, completely

Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) is activated in Assam. AFSPA is specially imposed for disturbed areas in state with powers like search, arrest and to open fire if they deem it necessary, without a magistrate’s permission, for “the maintenance of public order.” Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently announced to uplift this special power from the districts of Assam by November, 2023. Six ethnic communities from Assam were demanding ST status since few months in the state. The communities were the tea tribes, Chutia, Koch-Rajbongshi, Matak, Moran, and Tai-Ahom. Assam govt officer arrested on corruption charges

As Assam Anti-Corruption wing are in an operation since last few months to end corruption in the state. Many govt. officials are caught red handed accepting bribe from the needy. Now, Minakshi Kakoti Kalita, an Assistant Commissioner of State Tax, was caught red handed in a trap laid by officers of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption worth more than Rs. 65 lakhs was recovered. MoU signed by Assam govt for riverine tourism circuit
