Tata Motors Q4 FY26 sales jump 25%, EV volumes surge

Tata Motors reported strong commercial vehicle performance in Q4 FY26, with total domestic and international sales rising 25% year-on-year to 1,32,465 units, compared to 1,05,643 units in Q4 FY25. March 2026 sales stood at 47,976 units, up 17% from 41,122 units a year ago. Segment-wise, HCV trucks grew 14% in March and 29% in Q4, while ILMCV trucks rose 16% and 27% respectively. Passenger carriers recorded a sharp 31% growth in March, while SCV cargo and pickups increased 17%. Total domestic CV sales climbed 18% in March and 26% in Q4, with international business showing 17% growth in Q4 despite a marginal dip in March.

Domestic MH&ICV sales rose 16% in March and 26% in Q4, while overall MH&ICV volumes (including international markets) grew at a similar pace. For FY26, total CV sales increased 14% to 4,28,329 units, with EV volumes surging 59% YoY.

MD & CEO Girish Wagh said the sector saw a subdued H1 but recovered strongly in H2, aided by GST 2.0 rollout and improved freight activity. He noted March growth moderated due to West Asia tensions but highlighted new launches like Ace Pro, Winger 9S and the Azura range, along with upgraded safety norms, as key drivers.

In Kolkata, rising demand for cargo transport, last-mile delivery and passenger mobility is expected to support commercial vehicle growth. Increased trade and infrastructure activity in the Kolkata market is likely to boost uptake of SCVs and MH&ICVs, strengthening Tata Motors’ presence in eastern India.
