Seven more deaths reported in Assam floods, toll climbs to 92

The flood situation in Assam remains critical, with seven additional deaths reported on Tuesday, raising the total to 92 this year due to floods, landslides, and storms. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the number of affected people has decreased to 1.77 million, but the crisis persists. The latest fatalities occurred in the Cachar (2), Dhubri, Dhemaji, South Salmara, Nagaon, and Sivasagar districts. Of the total deaths, 79 were caused by floods, with landslides and storms responsible for the remainder. Currently, 1,717,599 people across 26 districts are affected, down from 1,880,700 people in 27 districts last Friday.…

Another job drive exam in Assam to be held by April 2025

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been planning on boosting jobs for the aspirants in the govt sectors. Earlier, Assam Government has already hold exams and recruited the job seekers. Recently, the Assam CM has updated about next job drive which is aiming to fill approximately 35,000 vacancies across the various departments including teaching sectors by April 2025. To be noted, aspirants seeking III and IV grade jobs through direct recruitment, selection test will be followed by three stages- Preliminary, Mains & Interview.

Agarwood bust in Assam: Massive seizure on Guwahati-Mumbai route

Authorities conducted a successful raid on July 4 aboard a train traveling from Guwahati to Mumbai, seizing 45 bags of agarwood worth crores. The operation took place during the night at Bongaigaon railway station. Agarwood, renowned as one of the world's most expensive woods, possesses medicinal properties including as a stimulant, antiasthmatic, carminative, tonic, aphrodisiac, and astringent. It finds use in treating conditions such as diarrhoea, dysentery, gout, rheumatism, and paralysis. The seized items comprised 41 bags of dried agarwood pieces and 4 cartons of agaru oil, transported aboard the New Bongaigaon GRPF's Nammanya Tilak Express.

Assam CM inspects breach embankment in Dibrughar city

Assam Agriculture Minister holds workshop on double cropping project

Assam Agriculture minister Atul Bora has launched double cropping project at Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat which will include 23 districts, covering 1,000 hectares of land across the state.
