No Covid death in Odisha for 16 days

Odisha on Thursday reported 12 new COVID-19 cases at 0.08% test positivity rate, with the tally rising to 12,88,339, the health and family welfare department said. The death toll stood static at 9,126 as no new fatality due to the infection was reported for the 16th consecutive day. Besides, 53 other coronavirus patients have died due to comorbidities so far. Odisha now has 120 active cases, while 12,79,040 patients have recovered from the disease, including 15 in the last 24 hours. Twelve out of 30 districts of the State have so far turned Coronavirus-free with zero active cases.

Sunil Jakhar to join BJP

Former Punjab Congress president Sunil Zakhar will join the BJP on Thursday, days after quitting his old party. Jakhar quit the Congress last week after hitting out at former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Twitter, saying he was "not the asset" portrayed by the party leadership. SC grants SP leader Azam Khan interim bail

The Supreme Court on Thursday granted interim bail to Jailed Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan in a cheating case, saying it was a fit case to exercise its extraordinary powers under Article 142 of the Constitution to grant relief. Two police personnel found dead

Two police personnel were found dead in a paddy field near the Muttikulangara police camp in this north Kerala district on Thursday. The bodies have been identified as Mohandas and Ashokan, both havildars associated with the camp. Burn marks were found on the body, which is believed to be the cause of death due to electrocution. According to the police, the exact cause of death will be known only after a detailed forensic examination and post-mortem.

Gyanvapi survey report submitted
