India records 2,338 Covid cases

According to the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 2,338 new Covid infections in a day taking its number of cases to 4,31,58,087 while the number of active cases stood at 17,883. The death toll rose to 5,24,630 with 19 more deaths due to the viral disease. According to the ministry, active cases comprised 0.04 percent of total infections and the national COVID-19 recovery rate was 98.74 percent. India's active caseload hike up by 185 in 24 hours. Modi to participate in Yoga Day celebrations

Gold gains Rs 75; silver rises to Rs 120

Gold rose by Rs 75 to Rs 51,052 per 10 grams in the national capital on Monday, according to HDFC Securities, on firm global trends. In earlier trade, the precious metal settled at Rs 50,977 per 10 grams. Silver also increased by Rs 120 to RS 62,143 per kg from Rs 62,023 in the previous trade.

Naidu administers oath to 2 new Rajya Sabha members

Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday administered the oath to newly elected members Ravichandra Bhaddirajhu and Aneel Prasad Hegde. Vaddiraju was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Telangana to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Banda Prakash. Hegde was elected from Bihar to fill the vacancy after the death of Mahendra Prasad. Ravichandra Bhaddi Raju took oath in Telugu, while Hegde took oath in Hindi. While Naidu's visit will be the first by an Indian Vice President to all three countries, it marks the first high-level visit from India to Gabon and Senegal.

RPF constable found dead in railway yard

The dead body of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable was found in the yard of Rani Kamalapati station. Reports initially suggest that Constable Amal Chatterjee (50) was killed by the train. A man from Railway Point found the body on Monday morning. Chatterjee is a resident of Kolkata and was posted here since 2018. After post-mortem, his body was handed over to his relatives.
