New COVID-19 cases in Mizoram

Mizoram recorded 55 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, 22 more than the previous day, taking the tally to 2,27,849, a health department official said. The death toll stands at 697 as no new deaths due to the infection have been reported in the last 10 days. The daily positivity rate rose to 12 percent from the previous day's 7.73 percent as new cases were detected from 455 samples tested, the official said. Temperature in the city settles to normal

The national capital witnessed a warm morning on Thursday as the city recorded a minimum temperature of 29.5 degrees Celsius, the highest minimum temperature of the month so far, the Met office said. Skies will be clear on Thursday and heat wave may start from Friday. The maximum temperature on Thursday is likely to be around 43 degrees Celsius, an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said. The relative humidity was 67 per cent at 8.30 am on Thursday, the Met office said. Back-to-back showers, thunderstorms, and strong winds provided some respite from the intense heat wave.
