India reported 2841 fresh infections in the last 24 hours, stated the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday. India’s active caseload now stands at 18,604 with active cases now constituting 0.04% of the country’s total positive cases. Active COVID-19 cases dips in the country

With 2,827 new coronavirus infections reported in a day, India's number of Covid-19 cases rose to 4,31,13,413, while active cases fell to 19,067, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday. The death toll rose to 5,24,181 with 24 fatalities from the latest updated data. Daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.60 percent and weekly positivity rate at 0.72 percent, according to the ministry. The number of people who have recovered from the disease has increased to 4,25,70,165. The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive have crossed 190.83 crore.

Road crash on Yamuna Expressway

Five people, including four from Maharashtra and one from Karnataka, were killed in a road accident on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida, police said. Those seven people were in Mahindra Bolero. They were on their way to Noida from Agra when their car hit a dumper truck from behind near Jewar toll plaza, reports said.
