Country’s first child empowerment centre in Sikkim

Sikkim chief minister Prem Singh Tamang on Monday inaugurated the first of its kind ‘Child Empowerment Centre’ at Poklok in Denchung. The centre has been set up by Social Justice and Welfare Department under Integrated Child Protection Scheme, Northeast Now reported. The project was supported by the State Institute of Rural Department and Panchayati Raj (SIRDPR), Rural Development Department, Government of Sikkim. The Centre has been funded under Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), Ministry of Panchayati Raj. This centre is one of the first in the country and aims at protecting the rights of the child.
