Delhi's coronavirus total rose to 8,895 cases after a single-day spike of 425. No coronavirus patient died on Thursday, but the number of deaths jumped from 115 to 123 as the government took into account cases that were not reported before.In the last 24 hours, the Delhi government data says, 473 people were either cured or migrated. With the new addition, the total of those discharged reached 3,518.The total active cases in the national capital is now 5,254.

The government will amend Essential Commodities Act to enable better price for farmers, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said today, in her third set of announcements on the mega economic stimulus to tackle the coronavirus crisis.Agriculture food stuff including cereals, edible oils, oilseeds, pulses, onions and potato will be deregulated, Ms Sitharaman said.The government will also bring in law to implement agriculture marketing reforms to provide marketing choices to farmers. An additional Rs 30,000 crore will be released as emergency fund for farmers hit by the coronavirus crisis. The move will help three crore farmers, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said today, unveiling the second tranche of announcements that are a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Rs 20 lakh crore stimulus to boost a coronavirus-hit economy.This will help small and marginal farmers in post-harvest Rabi crops, Nirmala Sitharaman said.This is in addition to Rs 90,000 crore support provided by NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development), which gives credit for agricultural activities.
