Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has extended the current lockdown with relaxations in the state from June 30 to July 31.  Announcing this at the end of a 3-hour all party meeting today, Ms Banerjee said, "The COVID-19 problem is spreading. After the government asked Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurved to stop advertising about Ayurvedic medicines that allegedly cure Covid-19, until the Ayush Ministry examines the medicines, a complaint has been filed against the Company owners before a court in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.The complaint has been filed by social activist Tamanna Hashmi under Sections 420 (Cheating), 120B (Criminal Conspiracy), 270 (Malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of IPC. In Tamil Nadu, after reporting successful recovery of 25 patients at a centre in Chennai, the state government is expanding the use of Siddha treatment at another centre. As Tamil Nadu's coronavirus tally crossed the 64,000-mark, the state government has claimed the native Siddha treatment for patients with no or mild symptoms has given 100 per cent recovery rate.  On Tuesday, Yoga teacher Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurved claimed that it has launched medicines that can cure the highly infectious illness within seven days. The Delhi high court Tuesday granted bail to Jamia student Safoora Zargar, who is pregnant and was arrested under anti-terror law UAPA in a case related to communal violence in northeast Delhi during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act, as Solicitor General Tushar Mehta did not oppose it on humanitarian grounds. Justice Rajiv Shakdher passed the order after the Central government, represented by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, agreed to Ms. Zargar's bail plea on humanitarian grounds.
