Fresh floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall have caused widespread damage to houses, roads, agricultural land and public infrastructure across several districts of Arunachal Pradesh, even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a gradual decline in rainfall from July 10. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), fresh incidents were reported during the past 24 hours from Keyi Panyor, Upper Siang, Tirap, Changlang, Papum Pare and Upper Subansiri districts. A traditional folktale of the Wancho tribe from the remote Patkai Hills in Arunachal Pradesh's Longding district is being brought to life as an animated short film, marking the first known adaptation of a Wancho oral narrative into animation. The project is currently being developed through a two-month production workshop at the Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology (SMI) in Bengaluru. Two construction labourers lost their lives while three others were rescued after a mudslide trapped six workers at Lohitpur in Arunachal Pradesh's Tezu on Wednesday. According to the District Disaster Management Office (DDMO), the incident occurred at a construction site in Lohitpur, where six labourers were caught under debris following the mudslide.
