2 arrested for cheating job aspirants

Two persons have been arrested in an inter-state operation for allegedly duping unemployed youths on the pretext of providing them with jobs. Accused Tushar and Akram were residents of Uttar Pradesh and were working from Udham Singh Nagar in Uttarakhand. They were arrested on the spot. A 23-year-old woman from Delhi filed a complaint on the Home Ministry's cybercrime portal alleging that some unidentified people duped her into paying Rs 12,000 when she applied for a job on social media. DCP said the investigation is going on.

Film ‘Padavettu’ to release in September

Nivin Pauly's political thriller "Padavetthu", is set to release on September 2 around the Onam festival. Backed by Yudlee Films, the cinematic arm of music label Saregama, the Malayalam film is co-produced by Sunny Wayne and directed by Leeju Krishna. Siddharth Anand Kumar, Vice President, Films and Events, Saregama India, said the team is proud of "Padavetthu" as it shows the hero's journey "from zero to hero in a believable way".

Nomination filing begins in Odisha

The process of filing nominations for the three Rajya Sabha seats in Odisha began on Tuesday with the state assembly secretariat issuing the notification for the elections to be held on June 10. Flood death raises to25, 6.5 lakh

The flood situation in Assam eased slightly on Monday even as the death toll rose to 25 as one more person died and more than 6.5 lakh people were affected across 22 districts. Fresh COVID-19 cases in J-K

Five new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday taking its tally to 4,54,204. The death toll remained unchanged at 4,752. Of the new cases, three were reported from the Jammu division and two from the Union Territory of Kashmir. There are 58 active COVID-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
