Mizoram to implement handholding scheme to uplift condition of labourers

Mizoram minister Lalnghinglova Hmar has said that the state government will implement a 'Bana Kaih' (handholding) scheme to uplift the financial condition of labourers. The Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) government headed by Chief Minister Lalduhoma is making massive efforts to develop labourers in the state, the party said in a statement on Friday. The 'Bana Kaih' launched in September last year is the state's flagship programme to provide financial assistance and support primarily to entrepreneurs and farmers through a series of targeted programs designed to promote economic growth and self-sufficiency.

Notorious drug dealer Lalchhanmawii arrested again in Mizoram

A Myanmar national, notorious for her involvement in drug trafficking, has been recaptured after escaping from Mizoram’s Central Jail Aizawl and Champhai District Jail on two separate occasions. Lalchhanmawii, alias C. Mawii (44), a resident of Khawmawi, Myanmar, was apprehended by local volunteers and handed over to Champhai Police on January 29, 2025. Lalchhanmawii first escaped on November 30, 2023, from the Central Jail in Aizawl, along with two other female inmates.
