Bihar: Patna’s version of Marine Drive to open for public today

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar will inaugurate the Ganga Path expressway in Patna today at 4pm. Hailed as Patna's personal 'Marine Drive', the 6.5km long path connects Digha to Patna Medical College and Hospital . The road has been built on a 13m high dam. The 6.5km stretch is just the first section of the Ganga Path project, which includes a 21km long throughway from Digha to Didarganj. Jammu-Kashmir highway remains closed

The highway was blocked by landslides, mudslides and rock pelting at 33 places in Ramban and Udhampur districts due to flash floods caused by heavy rains besides washing away a 150-feet long road and an under-construction bridge. “Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road closed for repair and maintenance. But Mughal Road for vehicular movement”, the traffic department said. Explosives were used on Thursday evening to blast boulders obstructing the ongoing renovation work on the highway. Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Musarat Islam, who is personally monitoring the road clearance operation, said the administration has arranged overnight accommodation and meals for the stranded passengers.

On Friday Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram criticized the government over the situation of the Indian economy. He questioned the government for going back on the fiscal deficit target for the current year. “Within months of setting the FD target of 6.4 per cent for 2022-23, the government is backtracking. Now, the government says it will 'try to keep FD at 6.7 per cent', the same level as in 2021-22, the former finance minister said on Twitter. The Congress party and its leaders questioned the government's economic policies and accused the BJP government of "mismanaging" the country's economy.
