In a significant move to transform the state’s sericulture landscape, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has officially launched the E-RISE (Eri Rearing, Innovation, Spinning, and Empowerment) program. The ₹4.61 crore initiative is designed to fortify the Eri silk value chain, providing a direct boost to rural livelihoods and indigenous textile production. Launched in the Ri-Bhoi district, the E-RISE scheme targets 1,200 farming households spread across 22 clusters.
