The number of coronavirus cases in India have continued to rise at an alarming rate. According to the data available at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the highly contagious infection has affected over 6.73 lakh people and claimed more than 19,000 lives in India so far. Amid the continuous surge, the government has said that the recovery rate in India has reached 60.77 per cent as 4.09 lakh people have been cured and discharged from hospitals. Fire breaks out Kolkata highrise

Fire broke out on the 10th floor of a residential building in Kolkata''s Alipore area on Saturday evening, police said.There are no reports of any casualties, they said. Five fire tenders are at the spot to douse the blaze that broke out around 8.40 pm, police said.The entire building, located on upscale Belvedere Road, has been evacuated, a senior officer of the fire department said. "The fire is under control at the moment. Our officers are still working there," he said. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, he added.

Maharashtra Coronavirus Cases Cross 2 Lakh-Mark

Maharashtra’s Covid-19 tally now stands at 2,00,064 while the death toll went up to 8,671 with 295 casualties. The state has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in India, followed by Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat. A total of 3,396 people were declared recovered on Saturday taking the total recoveries to 1,08,082 while the number of active cases is 83,311. Heavy rains will continue to lash Mumbai and the coastal districts of Maharashtra for the second consecutive day on Saturday, an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. 25 more dangerous Android apps have been banned by Google after they were caught stealing Facebook login details.

In June, Google removed over 50 apps from its Play Store, after discovering they contained a malicious adware which could leave Android devices unusable. A cyber security firm has now revealed a further 25 malicious apps which have been banned by Google, and is advising Android users to remove them from their devices. At least 113 people were killed Thursday in a landslide at a jade mine in northern Myanmar, the government and rescue workers said, the latest in a series of deadly accidents at the sites in recent years.
