The political climate in Arunachal Pradesh has escalated following a Supreme Court directive for the CBI to investigate alleged irregularities in government contract allotments. The state Congress has called for Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s resignation, accusing the BJP-led government of corruption and misusing power. APCC president Bosiram Siram claims contracts worth over ₹1,270 crore were awarded to companies linked to Khandu, highlighting a crisis of public trust. While Siram demands a thorough investigation, Khandu has expressed willingness to cooperate with the CBI, asserting that the inquiry will clarify matters. The state government’s affidavit states that only 121 out of over 21,000 contracts went to the implicated firms, amounting to ₹1,245.04 crore. The Supreme Court’s involvement aims to establish the validity of these allegations and the need for further investigation.
