P&G Health, IMA launch India’s first patient recovery guidelines in Tripura

P&G Health, in collaboration with the Indian Medical Association (IMA), has launched India’s first patient recovery guidelines for doctors titled “Clinical Application of Micronutrients in Recovery” at an event in Agartala. The evidence-based guidebook focuses on the role of micronutrients, particularly B-complex vitamins, in improving recovery outcomes among patients suffering from acute illnesses, chronic diseases, surgical conditions and paediatric health issues. Developed and reviewed by a multidisciplinary panel of medical experts, the guidelines aim to standardise recovery protocols across the country. The document explains how micronutrients support inflammation control, tissue repair, immune response and oxidative stress management during recovery. It covers conditions ranging from flu, malaria, dengue and diarrhoea to diabetes, cardiovascular disorders and liver diseases.

P&G Health Managing Director Milind Thatte said the initiative was launched to address the lack of structured guidance on micronutrient use for Indian patients recovering from illnesses and surgeries. He said the guidelines would provide clinicians with practical and evidence-based tools to improve patient outcomes. Dr. Abhijit Sarkar, President of IMA Tripura Chapter, said the guidelines would be especially useful in Tripura, where delayed treatment and nutritional challenges in remote and tribal regions often affect recovery timelines.

In Agartala, the launch is expected to strengthen awareness around preventive healthcare and nutritional recovery products. Healthcare experts believe the initiative may also drive greater demand for micronutrient-based therapies and support wider adoption of standardised recovery practices among medical practitioners in the region.
